 Tips for Wine lovers

Are you curious about all those rules about storing and serving wine? Well, here are some tips for consumption & storing of wine. When we talk about the consumption of wine, sparkling wines and champagne compliment almost any kind of food. White wine is consumed before red wine. A dry wine should be consumed before a sweet wine. A good wine is consumed before a great wine.

Wines should be served at their right temperatures in order to get the best of them. Some wine enthusiasts go through elaborate rituals in serving wine, which can be fun and entertaining. But storing and serving wine is really a simple matter of following some basic guidelines.

1.  Many people think they have to "age" wine after purchasing it. But properly stored wine will last for a long time, so there's no rush to consume it either. Just wait for the appropriate moment and enjoy it with good friends and good food.

2.   Right Temperature for serving wine: White wines - between 43º - 48º F / 6º – 9º C and for Red wines should be served at  cool room temperature between 65º- 70º F / 18 º - 21º C .

3.  When pouring the wine, except for sparkling wines (should be served at temperature , between 40º - 43º F / 4º- 6º C ) you should fill glasses only about half-way. To truly savor it, swirl the wine gently before inhaling its essence.

Don’t’ think that you should have an elaborate or expensive "wine cellar" to store wine properly. Just keep it in cool place (away from direct sunlight), with the bottles on their sides to keep the cork moistened. And don't think that you have to drink the entire bottle at one sitting. Wine stays fine for several days if re-corked and refrigerated.

You can use all purpose everyday wine glass which is suitable for all kinds of wine. For sparkling wines or champagnes, always use a tall and thin "flute" so you can enjoy the bubbles instead.

Before concluding this article, I want to say Never drink and drive - or allow your friends to.

“The road is safe when the driver is dry, and the driver is safe when the road is dry.”
