The legend of wine

 

In India, we pride ourselves to make sure food is cooked to retain its natural value its subtle flavor and taste. Coupled with the perfect of wine, the flavor is enhanced to its full extend. Indian winemakers are now promoting themselves, to the international market. The increasing numbers of vineyards   are an obvious sign in, parts of western and southern India that, a day may not be far away when India is taken seriously as a wine-producing nation.

Wine Tasting is an experience where one can appreciate all the components of wine. However, wine comprises of six characteristics each of which helps in determining if the wine is a great wine or an ordinary one in the making, such as Colour, Nose, Fruit, Acid, Tannin, and End (After-Taste) The typical wine tasting needs specified glasses. To taste a white wine thinner and closer rim at the top to hold the aroma released from the wine. Red wine should be tasted with a wider-bottomed glass to enable better release of flavors  

The effect of wine on heart and its anti aging properties had been scientifically proven. There has been overwhelming evidence in recent studies that wine in moderate quantity is extremely beneficial for health, which can reduce the risk to quite a no of diseases up to 40%. Common among them are cold, flue, sneezing allergies, and running nose and throat infections. Wine accelerates the growth of microorganisms that cause several known diseases. American heart Association (AHA) and the American Journal of Cardiology and Canadian and French scientists presented enough evidence that drinking 2 glass of wine can reduce the heart deices to an extend. A small glass of wine will reduce tension, relax both mind and body, and facilitate digestion, where as too much causes drowsiness and in some case, leads to aggression.

Wine is usually drunk before food or as an adjunct to food. Food though, is chosen first. The Combination of food and wine depends totally on the cooking. Invariably Red wine does not go well with seafood. A sauce or strong gravy, can influence, the choice of wine. . The typical pattern to follow are, while serving wine are, red wines with red meat, and White wines with white meat - and fish.

The only correct way to hold the glass is by the stem, though some professional tasters and experts like to hold it by the base. It is easy to swirl the glass in order to see the texture of the wine. It   is natural that the glass should be thin, plain and clear and not a cut-glass crystal to see the colour of wine properly. So next time you hold a glass of wine or bubbly to raise a toast, do it in style … the correct style and hold it by the stem and proudly say …
