This style of
port is not released in specific vintages, but is matured in oak over
many years.
When it is bottled
and shipped, the label shows how long it has spent in barrels (10
years, 20 years, etc.) It has an amber colour (deriving from oxidation
during the vinification process) and aromas reminiscent of raisins and
sweet dried fruits. Its high alcohol content makes it supple, dense
and pleasantly sweet on the palate.
This glass is designed to help tawny port achieve an optimum balance
of fruit and acidity and a perfect finish.
