This glass carries
the name of a famous French wine-growing region, and is ideally suited
to the Gewürztraminer grape variety for which it is renowned.
However, a wide range
of other elegant, medium-bodied wines with low acidity are shown at
their best in this glass. Its shape enhances fruit, and also the
subtle mineral elements so typical of many Sauvignon Blancs.
The size of the glass
has been fine-tuned to concentrate the aromas of freshly-cut grass and
elderberry flowers characteristic of such wines, while gently
interweaving their sweet, smoky notes with more earthy mineral
elements.
Swiss white wines,
which traditionally undergo malolactic fermentation, show very well in
this glass, which by bringing the earthier side of their character to
the fore gives them additional expressiveness and length. |
