2. The Maharashtra State Govt. has increased the special excise duty on Imported wines from Rs.100/- per liter to Rs.200/- per litre. Due this increase in excise and its cascading effect on octroi, VAT and wholesale margins etc. the prices of Imported wines Maharashtra will increase at least between Rs.80-Rs.120 depending on price of wines. The increase is with immediate effect.
This increase has been done to further protect the domestic wine industry.
